Campaign Story

Dear Friends,

Millions of people are trapped in horrifying violence and instability in Khartoum and other towns in  Sudan. Among them are thousands of families from Abyei, my home area, located along the border between Sudan and South Sudan.

Prior to the outbreak of the conflict in April of this year, the people of Abyei and other South Sudanese citizens went to Khartoum in pursuit of a better quality of life. Now their dreams have been shattered and their worst nightmares have surfaced. Innocent civilians are enduring immense suffering. That’s why we are raising funds and supporting our people in escaping the war and returning to their homes.

Our immediate goal is to raise $50,000 to enable the return and reintegration of 250 individuals back to their homelands. With the success of this first phase, we would then continue to raise funds to ensure the return of as many families as possible.

While our immediate focus is on Abyei, we’re acutely conscious of the broader challenge of return across South Sudan. We express our unwavering support for every community affected by this war.

Trusted partners are at the helm of this initiative. Cooperation Jackson, a 501(c)(3), will work with the Abyei Community Action for Development (ACAD) to ensure responsible delivery of these essential services. Cooperation Jackson will provide you with a receipt at the end of the year that you can use for a U.S. tax deduction.

Together, we can transition Abyei from a place of uncertainty to one of hope and security. Every contribution, every share, and every word of encouragement brings us closer to this vision.

Please donate today and be a cornerstone in our #BringThemHome mission.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Francis M. Deng

Note: Our figures and plans are rooted in rigorous on-the-ground assessments in Abyei, corroborated by consultations with local experts. However, we may adjust them based on the experience of bringing the first group of 250 people home.
